Ants have the answers...again
So, the much discussed idea of 'ring-fencing' the 'high street' parts of UK banks to insulate them from the 'turbulence' of the 'investor' sections looks like finally happening. We're all in favour of measures that protect the innocent public's hard earned cash from the consequence of someone else's folly but with this particular form of 'security' comes a flip-side: the prospect of very low returns for savers' funds in 'high street' accounts.
While the 'investing' side of the banks will now be able to go after the higher return (but riskier) opportunities to achieve better growth the fear is that, free of responsibility to the man in the street, they will take even greater risks. This may or may not be true and in any case we must digest all such news with the awareness that there is more complexity to many matters than is presented to us in our 'sound byte' culture.
While the debate about security versus risk goes on unabated the Giroma ants work away quietly and diligently on sustainable and achievable projects. Many journalists, politicians and others informing the public like to polarise and present everything as 'either or' but ants know better. They are adventurous in the way of taking on challenges but they keep their feet on the ground, literally, work as a team and get results (there's a good reason we haven't launched a 'flying ant' fund; no pun intended!) Ants take on projects for the good of ALL the team. There is structure and strategy in their activity.
Want to beat the banks and the system? You know where to come. No ant too small to help.
